30 Days of Movies: Day 1
Dec. 1st, 2010 01:28 pmSweetness, another 30 meme for fun and enjoyments. Softly lifted from
limiinal when she wasn't looking (*shrss* don't tell her). I'm looking forward to this, because I love movies and love ranting about what i love (or hate) about them. I'm trying not to read the list to come, because I want to be surprised by what's to come.
1. The best movie you saw during the last year
Calendar year or year to date?
How to Train Your Dragon hands down. While I haven't seen a lot of new movies over the last year anyway, this is the one that I spent money I didn't have on and then watched it ten days in a row.
I love this movie. The animation is beautiful, and the best DreamWorks has ever produced. Part of this is because they brought in cinematographer Roger Deakins to help them with visuals and lighting, giving it a much more "real" feel like a live action movie. It's gotten some crap about being an "basic origin story" plot getting dragons and humans togther, while the book it was based on already had them togther, but that's weak to me. There's a lot to get audiences to accept, and working them into it for this movie works when you want to franchise it and make sequels. And that doesn't take away from the fact that this is still an amazing movie.
