8. What's your favorite genre to write? To read?

I don't want this to sound like a cop-out, but I really don't have a particular genre that I prefer to write for; it's the reason I like being a writer, I don't have to choose a specific area and plant a flag to claim my space, I'm free to roam wherever an idea takes me. There may be underlying style points that pop up in multiple stories, but I like having a spread of genres to play with. Speculative fiction seems the easiest answer, because it's pretty encompassing of imaginative works.

Now, to read... while I have a wide range of books from all walks of books, I still the more fantasical stories. Not fantasy specifically, mind you, but books that don't feel the need to play with the real world while changing almost nothing about it. I'm currently big on Naomi Novik and her Temeraire series; yes, it has big ass dragons in it, but it's not what I'd really classify as a "fantasy", because the dragons are just a byproduct of the world itself. It's still Earth as we know it (okay, knew it, it's alternative history), still wars that we know happened happening, but there just happen to be dragons in them.
