2. The most underrated movie
Huh, day two, and they pull out a toughy. Hrmm.
Well, let's make this a tad easier and choose something I actually own. And from there I'm going to go with The Iron Giant. Ratatouille was a close second.
The Iron Giant is an amazing piece of animation. Brad Bird's first directorial film (the guy who would later move on to my favorite Pixar films, The Incredibles and Ratatouille) and he showed what he had in a big way. Set in Cold War era tension, the movie is about a boy and his giant robot from space.
What I love about this movie is just... everything. Well, not everything everything, but we're talking 95% of it. Danger is real, and just because it has a kid as the main character doesn't mean that he won't be threatened in real and believeible ways (something that he addresses again in The Incredibles). All the characters feel real and have a history of some kind, regardless of how much you actually see or hear about it. And the whole retro feel of the design of things fits the theme of the film wonderfully.
And for S&Gs, it was one of the first films with Vin Diesel in a main role.
